Nick Foster
I joined the Governing Body in 2021 as a parent Governor and I am extremely excited about taking on the role of Chair of Governors to support our fantastic new Senior Leadership Team in taking the school on its new journey!
My main motivation for joining the Governing Body, is that I have two young children who will be at the school for the next 8 years or so, and I wanted to be able to put some of my time and efforts back into the community that I grew up in, to help support and nurture young people locally. I am also on the Governing Body of another local secondary school in the role of Community Governor and l'm on the Board of Trustees for a local charitable children's organisation.
I currently work in the legal technology sector as an Associate Director of a tech consultancy, and before that, I spent nearly ten years in law enforcement within Bedfordshire, where among many different roles, I spent time in safeguarding and protecting young people against online offending.

I was delighted to join the governing body in April 2023 as a parent governor. Both of my children attend Hazeldene and so I have a vested interest in the school and its ongoing development. I am pleased to be the link governor for safeguarding/child protection at the school and I have enjoyed working with the school’s SLT in this area.
I am currently Assistant Headteacher/DSL at a local secondary school, where I’ve been in post since 2014. My responsibilities include behaviour, attendance and safeguarding, as well as line managing the SEN department. I have been in education for 14 years and in that time I have taught across curriculum, but specialise in English at KS2 and now KS4.
The school is going through an exciting time and it is a privilege to be involved as a governor.

I first became a school Governor in 1992, when we lived on the Isle of Wight. The following year we moved to Bedford for my husband's work. I have been a Governor at Hazeldene since 1993. I have two grown up daughters, one of whom attended Hazeldene.
My youngest daughter has dyslexia which was only picked up later on in her schooling, so I am passionate about getting the correct help for those who struggle with learning.
